The people we trust.
For the buildings that matter

The Circle

Over 25 years advising on and working with London’s period and historic buildings, AHKO has built something that can’t be rushed — a circle of exceptional specialists.

Each known through direct professional experience, each trusted to work on buildings where the original fabric is irreplaceable and the standard of execution is non-negotiable.

The Circle is not a directory. There is no application form open to anyone. Every member has been chosen by Adam Harasimowicz personally — because they have been seen at work, on buildings like yours, and found to be exceptional at what they do.

The Circle

Conservation Architecture

Architects of deep experience in listed buildings and conservation areas — who understand that the planning process, the historic fabric, and the client’s aspirations must all be held in balance.

Engineers who have worked on historic structures — who read a building’s movement and settlement with the same care as a physician reads a patient, and whose solutions respect the integrity of what stands.

Craftsmen working in natural Welsh slate, plain clay tile, and hand-dressed lead — the materials and methods that period buildings were built with, and the only ones appropriate to their repair.

Specialists in lime-based mortars, plasters, and renders — who understand the difference between a conservation repair and a cosmetic cover-up, and who would rather do it correctly than quickly.

A team whose work is found in some of the finest interiors in London. Conservation and faithful reinstatement of decorative ceilings, cornices, and ornamental plaster — executed to a standard the original craftsmen would recognise

Joiners who work in solid timber, to period profiles and original detailing — sash windows, panelled doors, staircases, and fitted joinery made to match or complement what the building was built with.

Conservation and repair of original stained glass — a rare and diminishing skill, applied with the precision that irreplaceable historic glazing demands.

Engineers of the highest calibre — capable of designing and installing complete plumbing systems within historic buildings without compromise to original fabric or architectural character.

Specialists in the sensitive integration of modern heating systems — air source heat pumps, underfloor heating, and full mechanical installations — into period properties, invisibly and without disruption to the building’s character.

Engineers who bring the full capability of contemporary electrical and smart building technology — lighting design, home automation, integrated control systems — to period properties, installed with complete discretion.

Craftsmen at the highest level of their discipline — working in traditional paint systems, specialist finishes, and decorative techniques suited to the surfaces and proportions of period interiors.

Specialists in the hanging of fine wallpapers, fabric wall coverings, and decorative linings — executed with the precision that high-quality materials and period proportions demand.

Installation of natural stone, hardwood, period-appropriate timber, and decorative floor finishes — sourced and laid to complement the architectural character of each individual building

Craftsmen in traditional and contemporary tiling — Victorian encaustic, natural stone, mosaic, and hand-made ceramic — applied with knowledge of historic precedent and precision of execution.

Specialist fitting of bathrooms to the highest standard — where craftsmanship in joinery, tiling, plumbing, and surface finishing converge in a single space.

Fabrication and restoration of gates, railings, balustrades, and decorative ironwork — in wrought and cast iron, steel, and bronze — to historical profiles and contemporary design alike.

Gardeners and landscape specialists of long experience with period properties — who understand that the setting of a historic house is as much a part of its character as the building itself.

How to Engage the Circle

The Circle is available to private clients and professional advisors working on historic and period properties in London and Surrey.

Enquiries come directly to AHKO. Adam reviews each one personally, and where appropriate makes a direct introduction to the right member of the Circle — with a written account of why that person is being recommended.

There is no automated matching. No algorithm. The introduction reflects 25 years of professional judgment.

Where AHKO introduces a specialist, a recommendation fee may apply. This is disclosed to all parties and
does not affect who is recommended or why.

    The Standard

Every member of The Circle has been assessed not through credentials alone, but through direct experience of their work on real buildings. The endorsement reflects what each specialist is genuinely trusted for — the type of project they suit, and the standard they consistently deliver.

AHKO’s name is behind every introduction. That is not given lightly.
