Built on 25 years of doing it properly

who is ahko

A practice built around historic buildings

AHKO was founded in London in 2006 by Adam Harasimowicz.

Adam has spent 25 years working on historic and period buildings across London and Surrey — alongside the architects, structural engineers, craftsmen and specialists who know them best.

That experience gives AHKO a practical understanding of every part of a historic building: its fabric, structure, materials, limitations and long-term needs. It also allows AHKO to represent a client’s interests with authority at every stage of a project.

AHKO provides Property Health Checks, represents clients directly on significant projects, and draws on a trusted circle of independent specialists Adam has worked alongside and knows personally.

The approach is shaped by practical conservation: retaining original fabric wherever possible, using appropriate traditional materials, and protecting the long-term integrity of the building rather than relying on cosmetic intervention.

Three services. One advisor. Always on the client’s side.

Founder & Heritage Advisor

Adam Harasimowicz

Adam Harasimowicz is a heritage conservation and advisory practitioner with over 25 years of continuous experience working on historic buildings throughout London.

His career began through practical craftsmanship and direct site experience — initially trained as a Wood Technology Technician in Poland before developing a specialist focus in historic buildings after arriving in London in 2001.

Over more than two decades, Adam has advised on and overseen conservation projects across Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian, and early twentieth-century properties, working extensively within designated conservation areas throughout London and Surrey.

Adam's experience spans:

Historic fabric assessment.
Structural stabilisation — subsidence, steelwork, masonry consolidation.
Traditional roofing — slate, clay tile, stone slate, leadwork, copper and zinc.
Lime masonry, render, and repointing.
Decorative plasterwork — conservation, replication, evidence-based reinstatement.
Bespoke timber joinery — sash windows, shutters, staircases, panelling and fitted cabinetry, all replicated to original Georgian and Victorian profiles.
Mosaic conservation and reinstatement.
Marble, stone, and Victorian tile
Stained glass conservation.
Mechanical and electrical services integration.
Client representation and specialist matchmaking.

AHKO’s approach is shaped by practical conservation philosophy rather than standard construction methodology — prioritising retention of original fabric, appropriate traditional materials, and long-term integrity over cosmetic intervention.

Adam Harasimowicz is a Supporter Member of IHBC the UK's principal professional body for building conservation practitioners — and is currently applying for Full Membership.

This reflects an ongoing professional commitment to conservation standards, heritage knowledge, and the responsible stewardship of historic buildings.
